I’m going to start by apologizing for the quality of the pictures here!
This homemade slime came to be at about 5am this morning, so the lighting wasn’t the greatest!
Yup, 5am…meaning this is a great way to keep your child safely and quietly occupied while you have your morning cup of caffeine and come to terms with the fact that your day has begun long before the Sun’s has!
This homemade slime (otherwise known as flubber or gak) is surprisingly clean to play with!
Of course, you will always want to make sure that you wash your hands after playing with it, but a quick wipe of the table and it’s like it was never there!
Homemade Slime Recipe
Pour one cup of glue into a mixing bowl.
Add 1/2 cup warm water to your measuring cup and swish it around a little to get all the glue out, then pour into mixing bowl as well. Add food coloring of choice and stir well.
In measuring cup, add the tsp of Borax to the remaining cup of water and mix until dissolved.
Add Borax mixture to mixing bowl with glue, you will immediately begin to see if getting “Slimey”!
Mix around until you can see two definite parts, one slime and one water.
Drain water and squish the slime in your hands for about a minute. Now Play!
I haven’t tried it yet, but I bet you could make some pretty fantastic slime with some glitter glue too!
This recipe is so super cheap (glue from dollar store, food coloring probably already on on hand, Borax from Walmart for about $4-$5) that you can make it again and again, but it holds really well in a sealed ziploc bag or tupperware container if you’d like to save it for future use!
